“Having seen countless times how effective sleep coaching can be, I am baffled by how inaccessible this simple solution has been. Hopefully, we can change that.”
Daniel Erichsen, Co-founder of BedTyme
Hi I’m Daniel and I’m a sleep physician, coach and author. I’m the son of a Danish surgeon, an Ethiopian nurse and I grew up in Eksjo, Sweden. I decided to become a sleep doctor because I was curious and I wanted a reasonable lifestyle (!).

Over the past decade, I witnessed first hand what a toll insomnia can have on your life. I also witnessed the magic of education, of having a helping hand and of changing habits.
This is what sparked the idea to create an app.
Hello, my name is Jamie and I am a developmental/behavioral pediatrician (in training!). I grew up in Tarlac, Philippines and moved to the U.S. after finishing medical school. Helping parents with behavioral concerns like picky eating and sleep issues, I realized how hard it is to ask families to change habits without explaining the science or psychology behind those changes.
Combining our knowledge and experiences we created BedTyme, the first ever app that combines a mindfulness based curriculum with personal sleep coaching.
Just in case you wonder, we are married and live with our two kids in Eugene, Oregon. We enjoy hiking, biking and trying our best.

The BedTyme Method

The problem with most sleep coaching programs is that access to your coach is limited and that you graduate after 6 or 8 weeks regardless of whether you’ve reached your goal of sleeping well or not.

This is where the BedTyme method is different. You can send an unlimited amount of messages to your coach and you decide when to graduate. You graduate when you have become your own coach and no longer worry about your sleep.

Our philosophy

We believe that insomnia happens when our problem-solving brain attempts to control something that cannot be controlled. Similarly to how you become more anxious the more you try to make yourself calm, the more you struggle with sleep the more you try to control it.

This is what sets us apart from traditional teaching. Instead of telling you to stay up late or restrict your sleep or leave the bed if you haven’t fallen asleep in a certain amount of time, our path is a gentle one without pressure. It is one of teaching you that when you take steps away from trying to control sleep, magic happens.

Will it work for you?

Yes. If you are willing to learn and changes some habits.

The BedTyme method is just as effective for abandoning the struggle with sleep as self-compassion is for any emotional discomfort. If you follow the path of education, courage and kindness, you’ll get where you want to be.
